Things to note when entering Tibet in winter

1. The temperature in Tibet is low in the morning and evening in winter. When going to Tibet in winter, you need to keep warm. It is recommended to bring down jackets, jackets, sweaters, woolen pants and other clothes with good warmth. The temperature difference between day and night in Tibet is relatively large. During the day, the sun is smiling brightly, and the temperature is relatively comfortable; at night, the moon is domineering, and the cold is biting, so you need to wear thick clothes. It is easier to catch a cold in Tibet, and catching a cold is a troublesome thing in Tibet, so everyone must pay attention to keeping warm and cold. The temperature in Lhasa in winter is minus five or six degrees Celsius in the morning and evening, and seven or eight degrees Celsius during the day. Summary: Much warmer than the Northeast.

2. The climate in Tibet is relatively dry in winter. When going to Tibet in winter, you need to moisturize your skin. It is recommended to bring lipstick, hand cream, moisturizing oil, facial cream and other skin care products. When you arrive in Tibet, it is recommended to drink more water and eat more fruits. When you come to Tibet in winter, you don’t need to bathe every day like you do in the mainland. Bathing every day is not only easy to catch a cold, but also makes your skin drier after bathing. Therefore, it is recommended that you apply moisturizing cream and other moisturizing products as soon as you finish bathing. In fact, even if you don’t take a shower for a few days in Tibet, you will still feel dry.

3. When you come to Tibet in winter, one of the themes is to bask in the sun. When the sun comes out during the day, go outside and bask in the sun, which will bring endless joy in life. But when you bask in the sun, don't "bake" yourself black. It will not be good if you end up like Bao Qingtian. Therefore, everyone should also pay attention to sun protection when enjoying the warm sunshine outside. It is recommended to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, hats and other sun protection products before entering Tibet, so that we can enjoy the warm sunshine in Tibet with confidence.

4. The oxygen content in Tibet in winter is less than that in summer. The probability of high altitude sickness when entering Tibet in winter is actually higher than in summer. We must do a good job in fighting against altitude sickness (in fact, it is not allowed to do so no matter when entering Tibet) ignore). Ten days and a half before entering Tibet, you can drink some Rhodiola rosea in advance, and you can take Gaoyuanan when you have high reflexes. The main function of Rhodiola rosea is to prevent altitude sickness, and the main function of Gaoyuanan is to treat altitude sickness. Don't go out of your way to exercise one week before entering Tibet.

5. The Namtso scenic spot is currently closed. Visitors are asked to proceed with caution while ensuring safety. Glacier No. 40 is closed and access is prohibited. Everest Base Camp can only go to Rongbuk Temple, which is also a viewing point on Mount Everest and the filming location of the movie "Armageddon". Linzhi in winter has a different flavor. Summary: Shigatse Mount Everest and Linzhi are two more classic routes that are acceptable. Tibet in winter is suitable for regular travel, but in-depth travel is still a bit inappropriate. Personally, I do not recommend driving into Tibet in winter, whether it is 318, Yunnan-Tibet Line or Qinghai-Tibet Line.

6. Train tickets to Tibet in winter are not as tight as in peak season. However, train tickets and air tickets are quite tight during the Spring Festival. The Spring Festival is also a small climax of travel to Tibet, and the prices of everything will increase.

7. As the government launches the "Winter Travel Policy", tickets for national 3A and above attractions and temples are not national attractions and are not free, but there are discounts. It can be simply understood like this: Potala Palace is free, and Jokhang Temple has discounts.

8. If you plan to stay in Lhasa for a long time, accommodation in Lhasa is relatively cheap in winter. It is recommended that you choose a "monthly subscription". Generally, the monthly subscription price for a bed in a youth hostel is only about 500 yuan, which is relatively affordable. The standard room is around 1,500 and can be booked for a month. It is more convenient to stay near the Jokhang Temple or the Potala Palace.
